Forever remembered

Salifou Sylla was one of the founders of Tamala Africa. He was an outstanding performer and teacher of Guinean and West-African music and dance. Salif delighted and inspired all those who came in contact with him.

Sadly, Salif died in a car crash in February 2008 but his friends, family, students and co-musicians set up a charity in the UK to keep alive the magic of his musical and cultural exchange and teaching. The charity was named Alanouwoly Salifou Sylla, (which means ‘Thank God for Salifou Sylla’ in Susu, Salif’s language), http://www.alanouwaly.com

Ousman “Sassou” Sylla, was the younger brother of Salif and a beloved member of Tamala. He passed away in May 2010 after a period of illness.
